Las Leonas hicieron mucha presión en la salida de las australianas, para obligar al error, y así poder estar cerca de la definición. Si bien tuvo a su favor más corners cortos no logró aceitar las jugadas como para definir, y Australia defendió de manera óptima esas circunstancias del partido.
A falta de 8 minutos del segundo cuarto Las Leonas tuvieron ventaja de dos jugadoras, por tarjeta verde. Ya once contra once las oceánicas ajustaron algunos aspectos de su juego, en el mediocampo y llevaron zozobra al arco argentino con un remate de Savannah Fitzpatrick que logró sacar Succi.
El primer tiempo se fue con más intenciones que concreciones, con la idea de que el resultado estaba acorde a lo que sucedió. El tercer cuarto tampoco entregó muchas novedades, en gran medida porque la táctica superó al juego individual y en ese contexto ni unas ni otras mostraron ser más que las rivales.
Un error de Raposo en una salida le permitió a Fitzpatrick definir plena ante el achique de Succi, para poner a Australia adelante en el marcador. Las Leonas fueron en busca del empate, que les permita acomodarse mejor en la tabla final, y faltando cinco minutos Julieta Jankunas hizo una gran jugada personal que no terminó en gol de casualidad.
Faltando casi nada para el final del encuentro, Austrlaia llegó a la segunda conquista con una muy buena escapada por la derecha que terminó en un centro al medio que conectó Fitzpatrick ante la salida de Succi, y de arremetida marcó Emily Chalker.
