En los últimos días, concluyeron las tareas de refuncionalización e iluminación de la fuente ubicada en Plaza Rocha, histórica pieza compuesta por tres esculturas de origen francés restauradas durante el 2018.
Las piezas llegaron a Mar del Plata en 1909, provenientes de la Fundición de Arte de Val d’Osne de París, la más importante del mundo. Inicialmente, se colocaron en la Explanada Sud, el antiguo paseo costero de la ciudad diseñado por Carlos Thays, que se extendía desde el Torreón hasta Cabo Corrientes en su primer tramo.
Sin embargo, fueron emplazadas por separado. La figura central, conocida como “El Nacimiento de Venus” a la altura del Torreón, mientras que las otras dos piezas restantes se ubicaron en Cabo Corrientes.
En 1938, a causa de las transformaciones en el paisaje costero, las tres esculturas fueron trasladadas a Plaza España, cercanas entre sí, pero conservando aún su autonomía.
Finalmente, a fines de la década del 40, el entonces director de Plazas y Paseos del Municipio, Adolfo Primavesi, decidió reunirlas en la Fuente de Plaza Rocha. De esta forma, se convirtieron en el conjunto escultórico que hoy se encuentra iluminado y restaurado.
“Conocer nuestro patrimonio contribuye a mantener viva la historia de Mar del Plata”, enmarcó Costanza Addiechi, directora de Restauración de Monumentos Históricos del Municipio.
Los trabajos realizados estuvieron a cargo de la Dirección de Espacios Públicos, dependiente del EMSUR.
