La realizadora independiente Nina Menkes inauguró ayer el ciclo de Charlas con Maestras del 34º Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata. La directora estadounidense, referente del cine feminista, recorrió su filmografía en la masterclass que ofreció en el espacio Tronador Concert by Campari.
“La violencia es un tema central en mi vida, por eso siempre me pregunto cómo representarla en mi cine sin glorificarla”, dijo Menkes, cuya familia víctima del Holocausto. Al igual que ayer, cuando participó del Foro de Cine y Perspectiva de Género, se refirió a la mirada que tiene en general el cine sobre las mujeres: “Siempre se las muestra de una manera opresiva, sexualizadas: tienen que soportar tomas tremendas, incluso con los directores más consagrados. No me considero una policía del sexo y no quiero decirle a nadie cómo tiene que filmar, pero sí pido que seamos conscientes de lo que filmamos”.
Durante la tarde se proyectaron “A Soft Warrior”, “Queen of Diamonds” y “The Bloody Child”, tres de la ocho películas seleccionadas para la retrospectiva de Menkes durante este Festival.
Durante el tercer día, se proyectaron en Competencia Internacional “Les Enfants d’Isadora”, de Damien Manivel, película presentada por la actriz Agahte Bonitzer –cuya visita fue posible gracias a Unifrance– y “A vida invisível”, de Karim Aïnouz, con la presencia de su protagonista, Carol Duarte. “El director quería hablar de esas mujeres que son nuestras madres y abuelas y cuyas vidas han sido silenciadas e invisibilizadas y no tenían una representación cinematográfica”, dijo la actriz.
En la Competencia Argentina, Fernando Salem presentó su película “La muerte no existe y el amor tampoco”, y Laura Casabé estrenó “Los que vuelven”, una producción realizada en la selva misionera, mientras que en la Competencia Latinoamericana fue el turno de “Lina de Lima”, de María Paz González.
Por la categoría Estados Alterados se proyectó “Ne croyez surtout pas que je hurle”, de Frank Beauvais.
El director del Harvard Film Archive, Haden Guest, que participa como programador invitado, presentó el segmento especial dedicado a Dominique Benicheti, que incluyó las películas “Jessica, Look at Me” y “Le cousin Jules”.
