El marplatense y nuevo jugador del Baskonia Patricio Garino, indicó que “para cualquier argentino es un honor” militar en el equipo azulgrana, en alusión al gran número de jugadores argentinos que han pasado por el club de Vitoria a lo largo de los últimos años.
El deportista de nuestro medio que jugará con el dorsal 29, ha reconocido en la presentación como nuevo jugador baskonista que será “un año de nuevas experiencias” y que tiene “ganas de aprender sobre todo con Pablo Prigioni de entrenador”.
“He seguido siempre al Baskonia por todos los jugadores argentinos que han pasado, la mayoría ha dado el salto a la NBA y eso indica el prestigio que significa estar aquí”, subrayó el alero.
Garino explicó además que su compatriota Andrés Nocioni “siempre fue su ídolo y ha desvelado que ha llevado el dorsal 13 -el número que ha portado Nocioni en la selección argentina- casi toda su vida por él”.
“Traté de reflejar mi juego en lo que es él, en la agresividad, la garra, un jugador de equipo que no importa si mete 0 o 20 puntos si el equipo gana”, destacó.
Con el plan de regresar a la NBA
El nuevo alero del Baskonia ha afirmado que su plan es regresar a la NBA, pero ha matizado que le da “mucha tranquilidad estar en Vitoria tres años -duración del contrato que han firmado ambas partes- y ha manifestado que va a aprender mucho y crecer”.
Se ha definido como un jugador “más defensivo y ha reconocido que está tratando de aprender un poco más la parte ofensiva, que nunca fue su fortaleza”.
Además, ha confesado que Pablo Prigioni “empezó siendo un ídolo, luego fueron amigos y pudieron compartir un equipo en la selección albiceleste, y ahora toca hacer una transición de jugador a entrenador”.
Respecto a las posibilidades del equipo, Garino aseguró que pueden “llegar lejos porque el nivel de talento es muy alto. Si somos inteligentes podemos competir con cualquier equipo de Europa ya que es un grupo de trabajadores y no hay egoísmos”.
